The rising of photovoltaic industry not only drives the demand of polycrystalline silicon, but brings great opportunity for the market of specialty graphite. It is predicted that the demand of specialty graphite will be greatly increased in the near future to match with the high speed development of photovoltaic industry.
The two main bottlenecks to limit the development of photovoltaic industry is polycrystalline silicon and specialty graphite. Nowadays, with the release of polysilicon, this bottleneck has been broken through. However, the gap of specialty graphite is still large. In the past 5 years, the capacity of specialty graphite applied to electric semi-conductive and solar energy increase to 50,000 tons from 25,000 tons. If every country develop solar energy according to this plan, then it could be reach 70,000 or 80,000 tons, or even 100,000 tons.
At present, graphite and other carbon relative products have been widely used in steel metallurgy, building, new energy, traffic, lithium battery, medical facility, sports goods, etc.
