High purity graphite means graphite carbon content of greater than 99.99%. High purity graphite with high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, thermal resistance, thermal expansion coefficient, self-lubricating, resistance coefficient of small advantages and ease of machining and so on, are widely used in metallurgy, machinery, environmental protection, chemical industry, electronics, medical, military and aerospace fields, more and more important role in the national economy, especially in the solar PV industry. Global solar PV industry average growth rate of 40%, China as the world’s largest producer of solar PV, its share of the global 70% of the industry in 2011 consume high-grade graphite material of more than 23,000 t, expected future PV silicon and polysilicon demand for high-purity graphite materials will rise at a rate of 20%~25% per year.
Technology is still at a low level in the world graphite industry in China at present, products with raw materials and processed products, products high in impurities so that its scope of application is limited. Thus, while domestic graphite products for low prices in the international market, resulting in large graphite resource outflows, on the needs of the national market of high-purity ultrafine graphite products are more dependent on imports.
