August 1st Army Day is the anniversary of the founding of the Chinese people’s Liberation Army. It is set up by the Chinese people’s Revolutionary Military Commission on August 1st every year to commemorate the founding of the Chinese workers’ and peasants’ Red Army.
On July 11, 1933, the Provisional Central Government of the Soviet Republic of China decided to celebrate the founding of the Chinese workers’ and peasants’ Red Army on August 1, in accordance with the proposal of the Central Revolutionary Military Commission on June 30 On June 15, 1949, the Chinese people’s Revolutionary Military Commission issued an order to use the word “August 1” as the main symbol of the military flag and emblem of the Chinese people’s Liberation Army. After the founding of the people’s Republic of China, this anniversary was renamed the founding day of the Chinese people’s Liberation Army.
According to the law of the people’s Republic of China on the protection of the status and rights and interests of military personnel, August 1 of each year is the founding day of the Chinese people’s Liberation Army. People’s governments and military units at all levels shall organize celebrations, commemorations and other activities on the military day.
On July 30, 2019, the Ministry of national defense of the people’s Republic of China held a reception at the Great Hall of the people to warmly celebrate the 92nd anniversary of the founding of the Chinese people’s Liberation Army. On August 1, 2021, the website of the Ministry of national defense of the people’s Republic of China warmly celebrated the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese people’s Liberation Army.
