As a chemical material, graphite electrode has good performance and is widely used in many fields. Regarding the use of graphite electrode, there are mainly the following directions:
(1) Used in electric arc steelmaking furnace: Electric furnace steelmaking is a large user of graphite electrodes. my country’s electric furnace steel production accounts for about 18% of crude steel production, and graphite electrodes for steelmaking account for 70% to 80% of the total amount of graphite electrodes. Electric furnace steelmaking is to use graphite electrodes to introduce current into the furnace, and use the high-temperature heat source generated by the arc between the electrode end and the charge to smelt.
(2) Used in submerged electric furnace: The submerged electric furnace is mainly used for the production of industrial silicon and yellow phosphorus, etc. It is characterized in that the lower part of the conductive electrode is buried in the charge, forming an arc in the charge layer, and using the resistance of the charge itself to emit Graphite electrodes are required for submerged thermal electric furnaces with higher current density. For example, each 1t of silicon needs to consume about 100kg of graphite electrodes, and each 1t of yellow phosphorus needs to consume about 40kg of graphite electrodes.
(3) For resistance furnaces: graphitization furnaces for producing graphite products, furnaces for melting glass, and electric furnaces for producing silicon carbide are all resistance furnaces. The materials in the furnace are both heating resistors and objects to be heated. Usually, Conductive graphite electrodes are embedded in the furnace head wall at the end of the resistance furnace, where the graphite electrodes are used for discontinuous consumption.
(4) Used to prepare special-shaped graphite products: The blanks of graphite electrodes are also used to process various special-shaped graphite products such as crucibles, molds, boats and heating elements. For example, in the quartz glass industry, 10t of graphite electrode blanks are required to produce 1t of fused tubes; 100kg of graphite electrode blanks are required to be produced for each 1t of quartz bricks.
